            After schooling at RIMC, he graduated from NDA in 1960 and was Commissioned into Brigade of Guards on 17 December 1961.

Has served in UN force at Egypt. He commanded an Infantry Brigade in J&K, a division in Sri Lanka, Delhi Area and 33 Corps. He was COS of 33 Corps, Central Command and later of Western Command from where be retired in December 2001.

In Recognition of distanguished service of exceptional order during his tenure as a Divisional Commander, he was awarded "Ati Vishisht Seva Medal" on january 1995. He was awarded the "Param Vishisht Seva Medal" on january 2000 for distinguished and meritorious service for highest order.







            Lt. Gen SP Singh (Retd.)

            Retired on 31 Aug 2012 after 39 years of dynamic service after achieving second highest rank (Lieutenant General) in Indian army. Widely travelled across length and breadth of the country and visited 20 countries as a member of study delegates/ observer. Participated in confidence building measure talks with Pakistan and was engaged in active operations against insurgents in Sri-Lanka, North-East, Punjab and J&K. Has a wide range of experience at managerial, executive, directional and strategic levels in the Indian Army.

            He has vast experience in dealing with counter insurgency and counter terrorism. Has undergone training functions at various levels and has had the privilege to be selected to undergo prestigious courses for the army, tri services and combined services. Most notable was elitist one year course at National Defence College, Delhi which had select participants from three services besides officers from IAS, allied services and 20+ foreigners.For his meritorious service he was awarded Ati Vishit Sewa Medal twice by the president of India.

• Master of Management Studies from Osmania University 1997-98.
• Master of Science from Madras University 1986-87.

            A resourceful and innovative professional, with 39 years of rich and diverse experience in the Army. Proactively upgraded formal qualifications in both technical and managerial fields continuously at the various stages of career. Has an extremely strong background with excellent performance in Management of Academic Institutions of Army at higher and middle level. Currently, the principal of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engg College,Fatehgarh Sahib.


ARMY CAREER:

            Commissioned into Corps of Signals on 22 Aug 1976. Commanded 10 Divisonal Signal Regiment Op VIJAY (1998-2000), the ASCON group (5 Signal Group ) (2006-09) and Air Maintenance Organisation at Eastern Command (2001-02).Has been Chief Signal Officer of Corps at Ladakh (2009-10) and then at Headquarters South Western Command (2011-12).Was Additional Director General Signals Staff at Army Headquarters from where he superannuated on 31 May 14.Has Been on teaching assignments at 1 Signal Training Center (1980-81),Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (1982-92) and Defence Servicies Staff College, Wellington (2003-06).He was part of raising team of Army Institute of Technology,Pune as HoD CSE(1994).
